It was recently learned that USAF (Ret) CMSgt Claude Vann, Jr., Father of Tidewater Chapter's Past President, Army LTC (Ret) Claude Vann, III, was actually the 1st FW's very first Chief!

LANGLEY AFB, VA – It was a very memorable Day for all as 3-DOTAs met with the Langley AFB 4-Star General to share their WWII experiences.

SGT (Sep) Newton and Col (Ret) Harvey & Stewart, latter 2-DOTAs (seen above) are the only surviving WWII Tuskegee Airmen Fighter Pilots who competed in the 1949 Gunnery competition (now referred to as Top Gun), all shared their experiences and the 4-Star General presented them with Awards.
